All of these rare community lots from Yemen are comprised of coffees from multiple small holder farmers. The farmers harvest and dry their own crops just as they have for centuries. Our partners at Rayyan Mill then use modern equipment to hull the dry cherry, grade by size and density and finish the process by hand sorting.

Our friends at Rayyan Mill care deeply about people, Yemen and coffee and are committed to making a positive contribution to all three by focusing on cup quality and serving as a bridge between Yemen and the specialty coffee market.

Rayyan Mill exists because the founders believe Yemen has a unique place in the history of coffee and has a lot to offer both the specialty coffee market and those involved in the growing, processing and exporting of Yemen coffee. The foundational problem with Yemen coffee in recent years is a lack of understanding between the coffee people of Yemen and the specialty coffee market. Rayyan Mill serves as a bridge between these two worlds.

Key factors ensuring

Cup Quality

  • Relationships – We have an extensive network of farmers and traders throughout the growing regions of Yemen.
  • Lot selection – A trained cupper selects all lots for export to the specialty market.
  • Processing – All of our coffees are processed at the Rayyan Mill with modern equipment used exclusively to process coffee and finished by hand sorting. I trained the processing team and oversee these processes as well.
  • Quality Control – During processing and prior to export all lots are approved by a trained cupper. We are the only mill in Yemen that selects lots and manages quality by cupping.
  • GrainPro – All lots are both stored and shipped in GrainPro bags.
